Experience the extraordinary Greater Kruger National Park, where growing elephant populations and a thriving mega population of 2,000+ lions demonstrate its remarkable significance in African conservation. Track lions with local experts, witness dedicated care at a wildlife rehabilitation centre, and actively contribute to saving endangered black rhinos by helping to alert anti-poaching teams.
You will be on the front lines of conservation, participating in various activities and learning from on-the-ground experts so you can better understand the intricacies of species monitoring and protection, while delving into the complex challenges of African conservation, intertwined with culture, community, and science.
As well as tracking and monitoring lions, elephants and rhinos, you will also record data on other vulnerable species such as cheetah, leopard, pangolin, and wild dog.
After exploring the local area and assisting with ecological monitoring, you can then soak in the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape at our private base camp nestled in the Greater Kruger National Park.
"It was like National Geographic coming to life. The knowledge that was shared with us was incredible and it made everything more understandable, relatable, and engaging. The expertise delivered to us gave us an appreciation for the whole natural journey."
Since 1999, our organisation has empowered gap year travellers to work hands-on with Africa’s wildlife. As experts in conservation, we’ve helped thousands of volunteers gain skills for their university applications or future careers, all while creating gap year experiences that are anything but tame.
We’ve also supported those that are simply searching for a meaningful wildlife experience instead of the usual safari holiday. We do this by offering a variety of opportunities including being able to volunteer at wildlife care and rehabilitation centres to aid orphaned and injured animals; assist with wildlife conservation management in order to monitor priority species and contribute to vital research; and being able to live the life of an African wildlife vet while meeting the requirements for Extra Mural Studies (EMS) and Animal Husbandry Extra Mural Studies (AHEMS).
Together, we can create a brighter future for Africa’s wildlife.
