PRESENTATION OF THE ECO-VOLUNTEERING PROJECT IN NEW ZEALAND
Our nature reserve is located in a unique forest environment overlooking the ocean. It is not a tourist attraction but a natural sanctuary situated 250 km from a major city, 50 km from supermarkets, and 2 km from the nearest residences.
We work very closely with the Ministry of the Environment, and our volunteers have the opportunity to work hand in hand with park rangers and learn the latest nature conservation techniques.
MISSIONS OF ECO-VOLUNTEERS
Eco-volunteers work together to maintain the habitats in good condition and participate in various domestic tasks around the sanctuary. This includes gardening, maintaining the vegetable garden, painting, and constructing shelters.
The assignment of working hours depends on the tasks to be performed at the sanctuary during the program as well as the weather conditions. The missions include a variety of conservation work such as identifying, marking, and mapping forest trails, studying plants, species like New Zealand kiwis, and other endangered species, maintaining the grounds, and participating in various maintenance tasks.
Eco-volunteers will engage in a number of exercises that will help them learn the basics of forest navigation, and over the course of their stay, they will develop the skills necessary to gain the confidence required to venture into nature.
