OBJECTIVE OF THE MARINE TURTLE ECO-VOLUNTEERING PROJECT – TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK, COSTA RICA
This eco-volunteering project focuses on the protection of animals, nature, and the environment in Costa Rica. Research teams observe three species of endangered turtles, particularly monitoring nests that are largely destroyed by increasingly challenging external conditions due to human presence.

The aim of this project is to protect and ensure the survival of sea turtles through data collection and behavioral observations of endangered species.
The role of volunteers is to:

Census the number of nests
Track turtle movements and migration patterns
Determine the impact of jaguar presence on turtle protection
The information collected on sea turtles in Costa Rica is then sent to international organizations and presented at global environmental conferences. This project has contributed to the preservation of the species, a reduction in poaching, and the conservation of beaches and their natural environment.
