OBJECTIVE OF THE SEA TURTLE ECOVOLUNTEERING PROJECT – TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK, COSTA RICA

This ecovolunteering project aims to protect animals, nature, and the environment in Costa Rica. Research teams are observing three endangered turtle species. They are particularly monitoring nests, which have been largely destroyed by the increasingly harsh external conditions caused by human presence.

The goal of this project is to protect and ensure the survival of sea turtles by collecting data and observing the behavior of endangered species.

The volunteers' role is to:
- count the number of nests
- track the turtles' trajectories, their migratory movements, etc.
- determine the impact of the jaguars' presence on turtle protection

The information collected on sea turtles in Costa Rica is then sent to international organizations and presented at global environmental conferences. This project has contributed to the conservation of the species, a reduction in poaching, and the preservation of beaches and their natural environment.
